Just because that juicing phase we went through seems to have died down doesn’t mean we can’t still do a bit of blending every now and again. Smoothies have long been hailed as one of the most delicious ways to start your day. What's more, if you make them right, they can be one of the healthiest ways to start your day as well. Grab a bunch of fruit, maybe some seeds and then pour in some liquid and voila you have yourself a smoothie.

Of course, you could throw virtually anything into a smoothie and it would probably taste great, but if you are looking for something that will really blow your mind then read on. Here are some of the most delicious and healthy smoothie recipes on the planet so your day can get off to the best start possible in 2018.

Banana and Ginger Smoothie

Ginger is universally acknowledged to be a superfood that is capable of curing just about anything. Not only is this smoothie super healthy, but it can cure whoever drinks it of heartburn, indigestion, nausea and all manner of other ailments. Plus, it’s really easy to make. Simply throw some bananas into a blender along with about half a teaspoon of freshly grated ginger. Top it off with some vanilla yogurt and a spoon of honey. If the consistency is too thick for you, pour in some almond or coconut milk to thin it out.

Green Tea and Blueberry

How are you supposed to blend up a tea bag?! Don’t worry, this recipe is as simple as it is healthy. Fill a bowl with boiling water and pop your green tea bag in it. Remove the tea bag after a few minutes and stir in a teaspoon of honey until it has dissolved. Then pour the mixture into a blender with a cup of frozen blueberries and a banana for texture. Finally, add in a splash of vanilla soy milk and blend until smooth.

Pineapple Green Smoothie

Green smoothies might look weird but they actually taste great (mainly because you can’t usually taste whatever has made them green). For this concoction you will need some pineapple chunks, a ripe banana or two, a handful of spinach, Greek yoghurt and some chia seeds. Again, if the texture ends up being too thick, simply add some milk or water to thin it out. The seeds give you a healthy hit of fibre, protein and omega-3 while the spinach throws some iron into the mix. Being healthy has never tasted so good!

Chocolate and Peanut Butter Smoothie

If you have a sweet tooth and want to feel a bit naughty then you should definitely try this surprisingly healthy breakfast blend. You will need a banana, some cocoa powder and a heaped tablespoon of natural peanut butter to begin with. Then add Greek yoghurt and soy milk and blend it all up. The soy milk and peanut butter are packed full of protein so you won’t need to add any extra protein powder. This is a smoothie that will fill you up and help you kick start your day.
